Interesting... that does not seem like to bad a deal as long as my friends and family remain employed.

If this happens, then the process will have been a success and all you who fear a government run GM will be relieved. It also likes interests will be sold beginiing next year, interests now held by the 3 major investors. As with many things, this takes time and to declare success or failure at this point is just plain silly.

Quote:
Last month the Canadian government said it planned to sell its stake in GM within eight years, if not sooner -- a timetable the Obama administration agrees with. But it will take years for both governments to sell all of their shares -- even if GM, as expected, becomes a public company again next year.

I wonder if these Republicans also fought against time tables for a withdrawal from Iraq? I know, war and cars, different situations. One involves saving the lively hood of Americans and the other involves putting Americans in harms way and a pre-emptive invasion of a sovereign nation.

Quote:
Many Republicans have sharply criticized the plan and have suggested the Obama administration distribute its GM shares to taxpayers, or take steps to set a concrete deadline to sell its stake.

How is this a success on any level? Where did all the taxpayer money go that was given before they went bankrupt? Oh thats right, ownership. We sure payed a high price for a shit run company.

I also find it very funny you liberals can't help but go back to the war in Iraq when discussing anything government related.

We should also discuss the great success of the Tarp funds.

The government selling ownership will be the pay back to the investment. And I am pretty sure loans are still payable as well.

Just because I disagree with you does not make me a liberal. I consider myself a moderate, but will take a right or left stance depending on the topic and my own personal views on it.

Yes, the Iraq war should still be brought up. We are still paying the price of that dubious decision.

Tarp funds success or failure will also take time to work themselves out.

But you Conservatives use the lack of instant gratification to validate your argument that everything the current administration is doing is a failure.

I think you are a liberal, I haven't seen you support any conservative ideals. You've already admitted you judge right and left on a sliding scale, which is not intellectually honest.

People who claim to be moderate are either not informed, which I cannot say about you, or can't admit which side of the fence they are on. When a person understands politics thye will have to make a choice because there is no middle ground. You either believe in freedom of the individual or you don't. It's that black and white. So which is it?

TARP & Stimilus haven't failed yet, but everyone who is intellectually honest and informed about economics knows from studying history that it will fail. You can't get rich by paying your mortgage with your credit card.

I will stay with moderate overall.

I won't pigeon hole myself in.

Some topics I am very liberal and on some I am fairly conservative. I believe in what I believe, not in a label given by others.

Hitler was in charge of a car compnay once - He called it the "Peoples Wagon". I have no real point except I just wanted to throw that out there.
