The closet for you that I know of is to go west at the Big Rapids exit on 15 mile by Lowe's and Menards, follow that out about 5 miles past Hungerford Lake and you'll run into the trail that will take you north, last time I knew that would take you up as far as the Manistee National Forest in the Baldwin area and possibly further north. Actually I know it goes north from Big Rapids till US 10 and farther north. It a big powerline trail, you can't miss it!

That road is M20 west. Go west to the little town of Woodville. Woodville will be on the north side of M20. Go north on 'main street'. Ahead of you you'll see where the dirt starts and goes up hill. You'll be needing the 4 wheel drive shortly after you begin the ride north. There's a sweet little valley you have to go through. I've been told you can take those power lines as far as Traverse City. I've only gone a few miles north then wandered through the National Forest trails.
You can also go up M37 to M20 west out of White Cloud. A few miles west of M37 there are a couple seasonal roads that will take you north. We've wandered north from there a few times. There are seasonal roads, 2 tracks and motorcycle trails to keep you busy for hours.

be careful, there were just $275.00 tickets associated from the motorcycle and quad trails with the use of an vehicle.

It is a touchy area. You need to have a plate for most of the 2 tracks and an ORV tag for others.

I couldn't remember the "M20" part last night, the road is known to locals as "15 mile" and those who live on it have a "#### 15 mile rd, Big Rapids" address. Either way it gets you to the same place. And if by chance you miss the first BR exit you can take the next one and and then head west 19 mile west and you'll hit the another set of power lines that will take you into the north/south trails.

I've taken that as far as US10, but I wouldn't do it again. Not tha it's a bad trail, but it's been stated on here before that i's illegal to drive on any powerlines in Michigan. Is there something about this trail that makes it legal?

I think the new restrictions of the MVUM start Nov1. Might want to print up a copy and make sure you're not going down dead ends or on closed 2 tracks, though if it still has a 4 digit marker pole, it's open. The Baldwin station had the south portion a couple weeks ago.
