Default 1996 cherokee drivetrain (4.0, aw4, 231)

Has right about 100k on it. Was babied the first 90k of its life. When i got the jeep i dd it for about 8-9k then made it into a trail rig and might have put 1-2k on it since then.
Engine is a 4.0 I6, even though its a 96 its a late year model so it has the newer power steering setup ( MUCH MUCH better design)
my mom bought this jeep brand new so i know 100% of the maintenance history of it. it has only not started twice. once was a bad cps. (years ago) and the second time was a blown fuse. When the fuse blew i couldnt figure it out so i just started buying stuff to get it running. I ended up putting on a new cap and rotor, coil, and cps before i figured it out. (less than 300 miles ago / 6-8 months)

Alt has less than 2000 miles on it (replaced it towards the end of my DDing time)

power steering pump has been replaced 8-9 times. It has a lifetime warranty so i cant complain. Last time i went to get it replaced they gave me one that was the next model up (for waiting my time or something) anyways that one has been on there for almost a year now and it seems good. right now its off because we had a little emergency and a buddy needed the tank but he is suppose to be finding me a new tank to replace it so it should all be there.

rad is less than 5k miles old.

fan clutch is less than 300 miles old.

header is crack (its a jeep thing)

oil pan is uh...Interesting....Axle decided it wanted to play tag with it before i got enough bump stop in it. It doesnt leak at all but lets just say, i should buy stock in JB weld.

always changed the oil every 3000-4000 miles then when i made it a trail rig last summer i usually changed it after every trip. Its been on 3 trips since then.

Ac blew cold last i checked however, when you turn the pump on the belt squealed like crazy. I dont know if it just needs some wd40 or what, it hasnt really been used in about 3 years.

Check engine light is on because the downstream o2 got ripped off. did not effect how it ran so i never worried about fixing it. (happened less that 300 miles ago)

Engine, and trans are the ONLY peices i havent had out or apart on this jeep.

basically this engine is bullet proof. I have had VERY VERY little problems with it. Anyways starts right up, doesnt nock or burn oil. doesnt even do the 10 second turn over thing that most 4.0s do lol.

Trans is another story. it gets hot, im not sure if maybe it just needs a fluid change or what but it gets hot then heats up the rad (trans cooler runs though the rad) which in turn makes the engine run hot. I put a aftermarket cooler on it a while back and it helped but didnt completely fix the problem. I think have the problem is mud getting caked in between the ac compressor and the rad. Thermostat and temp sensor have also been replaced before i figured out the problem was in the trans. it shifts perfect, doesn't slip or anything so i really dont know what is wrong with it.

i have a tcase that can go with it but its out of a different jeep. Its a 91 with 170k miles on it. Just a stock 231.

I also have a 60mm bored throttle body that can be included for the right price.

This is still in my cherokee and you can come hear it run before its pulled. Cant drive it because there is not tcase in lol.

now price....This is kinda hard because i dont know what someone would want. for the right price ill torch off the end and you can have everything. Or i can sell you the entire shell of the jeep for the right price (nothing frame rails down) I have no problem taking my time disconnecting everything (no cutting) so the wires and computer and stuff could be used in another jeep. or if you want you can help me do it and make sure nothing is cut or hacked.

I guess ill start at 750 for EVERYTHING engine, trans, t case, computer wiring, all the brackets you want, rad, fans, and anything else related that you think you need. if you add everything up i dont think thats to bad of price. 50 more if you want to bored out TB and the cold air intake i have (needs a new filter)

If you are intested pm me and we can talk about it. I wouldnt mind pulling everything frame down and pulling a few things out of the interior(speakers, cd player, cb, maybe the center counsel, guage pod) and selling the entire thing with a title for not much more. floors are solid, Very little rust, rockers are good, interior has had the carpet striped and hercued. Has a airbag tilt wheel, all power windows and stuff.....bring a trailer and we will load it up....lol

bump.....make offer....i need to move the jeep out back but i want to get the engine out first, but i dont want to pull the engine because then no one can hear it run....See the issue....Oh and i dont have the tcase yet and that deal kinda got messed up so i dont know if i will be getting it now so we can leave that out of the mix.....700obo, only think thats not there is the tcase. You can even have the brake booster and stuff for that price.

Bump.....Still have it, need it gone with nock 50 bucks off if you dont want the rad, another 50 if you dont want the trans and another 50 if you dont want the brake booster....So now where down to 550 for a complete good running engine with all the accessories, wiring, and computer, i dont think thats to bad of deal.


PS. I do NOT want to sell just the engine without the harness and computer, sorry...unless you want ot for 550 then its yours, otherwise ill have a hard time selling the other stuff after the engine is gone.

I sold the tires off of it s i need to move it up behind he barn out of the way and finish parting it. I would really like to sell the engine and get that pulled while its still by the garage so i dont have todo that in the dirt.

Still waiting to here back from some people....So bump anyways.

I tore the entire front end apart today....(grill and stuff)

Also started it up for a min, it sounds awesome with open header lol I wish i would have done that a long time ago.

anyways, started right up no problem and it hadn't ran in at least a month or so, maybe 2 actually.
