Why wouldn't you pick up an SM465 bell housing instead? I'll talk to the guy that i work w/ and see if he wants to sell his or not!

to answer your question yes you should have a good fit between the bellhousing and the input bearing.

fyi,a sm465/205 is the shortest combo possible so if you run more than a 6" lift you will have driveshaft issues.

you will have serious problems getting a front shaft under that kind of lift with that short of a combo, a 8" lift we just did with that same combo led us to chaining the front so there was no droop or it would have blown the shaft and that was with clearancing the yokes.
you are going to have to run a 2wd sm465 and a divorced case for that lift, no way around it, even high angle does not make a shaft for that kind of shaft angle

Ya the SM465 isn't really good for mud thats the main reason im switching. It's not worth it putting it in first gear to go through mud because it pegs when you step on the gas. So that only leaves you w/ 2nd. It's harder than hell to try to get it into third and steer when the ruts are taking you in every direct. It's just gonna be easier w/ an auto. But i really like it the rest of the time.
