GL4x4 sends around 11,000 emails a day, and every once in a while it will be blacklisted as spam and I have to fill out a form to have it cleared

It would be nice if other Admins actually took a pro-active approach to this kind of problem like you do. It took over 6 months for the JF clowns to get their head pulled out when it happened over there and it appears that the same thing may be going on over at ColoradoK5. They don't pay any attention to the thresholds.

Comcast doesn't appear to have GL blacklisted at the moment. I'm with Comcast also and have had no interruptions.

Comcast uses a % error method to calculate a "spamming" server. If x% of messages sent to a comcast.net email address bounce back, then it will flag gl4x4's server ip as a spam setup. Then I have to fill out the forms to release it, stating it is not a spam server.

Now the crappy end is keeping up with 11,000 members email addresses to prevent the % from going too high. As people move from comcast to another provider they're emails usually become abandoned. If a user has a marketplace subscription and receives 100 emails a day, and their email is no longer good, it causes gl4x4 to be flagged.

About once a week I look through all the "bounce back" emails for addresses with high numbers of failures, then I have to do a email user search, find the user, and either pm him to change it, or if they haven't been online in a while, I change it to hhh@greatlakes4x4.com

I wish comcast would just use spamhaus like the other major players do.

I understand the concept, but I'm still getting email from GL even though he isn't. I'm just saying I don't think that's the problem here, or my notifications would have stopped, too.

JF's issue was too much volume in too little time when their server got all backed up and then uncorked, causing Comcast to cut them off. They told members it was our problem until other people started posting replies from Comcast (months later).

The email portion of GL4x4 used to literally kill the server. it was constantly running because it would send 10-20 a minute out (on average during the day). I now have it batching the emails and sending them out once a minute, instead of instant, and it really helped. I've had no ill effects from comcast so far.
