My Shadow has forward controls and It handles very well. I actually don't think I could ride it with mids. It would be way too short for my legs.

X2

I have 3" forward control extensions on my softtail. It took a couple rides to get used to the balance but after I got used to it I have more control than I would if it had mids. Being cramped up doesn't help you maneuver any better. If the seat was 5" taller mids would be fine since it would feel like a dirt bike.

I like the mid controls, however it is a little cramped if you're doing a LOT of riding. I think the best solution for me would be a slightly taller seat, but the bike fits me pretty well as I'm 5' 9" with short legs. It does have highway pegs where the forward controls mount, so I think it's a pretty good compromise. The mids are way better for more aggressive riding. The sportster isn't a touring bike, so...

I don't see how that is possible.

Its because we are not all midges like you. I'm just over 6' mids on my bike or a sporty would leave my legs going numb, I have pegs on my crash bar too.

Your legs are at a more natural relaxed position so they can move freely. If you are cramped up you can't move quickly if you had to. I am 6'2" and when I got the bike with the stock forward controls my knees were sticking over the tank.

03 XL883r
Wiseco 1200 conversion
Ace Hardware Rust stop rattle can job :)

All the tins where powder coated black when i bought it and the 1200 kit was installed but not running well.
Runs like a mofo now and i think it looks a lot better after some cutting, hammering and spray paint. Haha

Last year the day i bought her

I have no pics of the top of the tank on the bike but here is where the "hammering" part came in.
The tank fell from its hanger while drying and well it dented the shit out of it so i did the ol "make the dents match" trick. 24oz framing hammer and some tape and paint,,,, done

That tank turned out pretty good,

I have good and bad news tho!

The bad news.... 7-24-13 i jumped on the shadow and headed for work, three miles later a deer decided i had gone far enough and that i needed to dismount at 55mph and take a rest! She ran into me from the side and took me out! The bike wasnt too bad and could have been an easy fix but i decided to let them take it and look into something more comfy, i could only ride 100 or so miles before i wanted off, so the search begins. As for me i am still a little sore in my knee and chest but am overall pretty good, atgatt! I can post pics later if you guys want to see.

Now the good news, i am calling on a gl1500 wing tomorrow with 44,000 near detroit for $3,700 ! That should hit that comfy spot for now ! In the next year or two i want to get a 03+ gl1800 wing just dont want that payment yet. I want to get the truck paid off first.

All flat black paint jobs are ghey. Almost as gay as utility racks made of wood and everything covered in stickers.

Thanks for reminding me though that my lights for the jeep are still stuck to my toolbox. A toolbox holds tools, its not just your nickname.
