Default Almost cried at scrap yard

Was unloading stuff with my dad, looked over as a Rouch racing truck pulled away and left about 15-20 9" axle housings and about 100ft of axle tube. If yo ucould take stuff out of that place I would of had to pay my way out.

huh

and it's Roush as in Jack Roush, not Roach,Rouch, or Rausch

You would be crying forever if you saw what the OEM's scrap every day.

Why would the scrap yard not sell you axle tube? I know some of them won't let you take motors and such, but I don't think I've been to one that wouldn't sell you materials.

it never hurts to ask, its all the same to them weigh it back out and deduct.

most of the places will let you take waht ever you want, they just take it from your weight, if you take more than you brought in then you have to pay them

Seems like they would be loosing the profit margin on the scrap.

I haul out of scrapyards to the steel mills everyday. I've stopped cranes before knowing I had no way to get the item home. I look at the loads of #2 Shred that go to Mittal and USS and wonder what kind of cool rare stuff it used to be. Thankfully it doesn't hapen near as much now that prices are down.

x2- things like motors have been given some sledgehammer love before they scrap them. This is the same thing as all the magazine project car/trucks that get squashed after a couple years- too much liability in letting test/prototype stuff out into the marketplace.

Still sucks to see tho.
