FYI - they're not different from year/make. any series II will work in any car that came with a series II. doesn't matter if it was a grand prix or a bonneville, or a buick, etc...

the only thing that was different were the "bolt-ons" (accessory mounts, motor mounts). Everything that's different can be swapped over from the old motor. I just replaced one from a '98 bonneville with a newer one from a '03 regal. IDENTICAL.

btw - series II = 1996 - 2002 '03+ gets a little questionable. some cars still had the series II but some started phasing in the series III (they have an aluminum upper intake)

Last edited by mtx410; June 27th, 2009 at 08:29 AM. Reason: added years which used series II

If you say so. Wiki and I disagree. Bad idea to put a L36 or L26 bottom end in a car that was a L67 or L32. That's why I need to know what year and model ie supercharged or not.

The blocks look the same though

feva, i'd like to know exactly what you found that disagrees with anything i said? if anything it confirms it. we're talking series II (L36) NOT series III (L26). and there was no mention of a supercharger. i'm not sure why you feel the need to go digging up information that doesn't apply to the situation... you may as well tell us how the Ford 3.8L won't work. He's not looking for a "block", he's looking for an engine that will drop right in. Why even post if you're going to be a dick.

Not being a dick, original poster never specified supercharged or not which is why I asked my original question. Put a 9.5-1 comp ratio motor where a 8.0-1 used to be and let me know what happens.......

You assumed he needs an L36 and then get all butthurt when I give correct information for the given situation while trying to find out if he needs a L67 or L36, who's being the dick?
