it has 156K on it, your guess is as good as mine.

I'd watch out for things like Frame Rust, maintenance history (mainly of timing belt, don't remember if they are an interference engine or not) You may want to get that changed ASAP, if thats the case.

Other then that, no idea besides the obvious.

My aunt had one a few years back. It was a lemon and then she rolled it.

That is all

I have one...Little late now but oh well!!

It is a 97 LS with 160,000 miles on it. When I got the thing I hated it, blew a crank seal at 135,000 and then the head gaskets at 145,000....I have gone 10 rounds with the damn thing but for some reason I always put it back together....?? Just can't get rid of the damn thing for a reasonable price. With all that being said, I have actually taught myself to like it and since it isn't worth selling I'll drive it till the doors fall off.

Some of the good things:
Fully boxed frame
Optional rear air lockers
4.56 gears in a " 9 inch style " axle

Here is a picture of mine and some ones that I found that were cool

If you were talking about a sport....well sorry for wasting your time

They are the exact same thing as an Isuzu Trooper and are known for bad head gaskets as well as transmission problems. My friend has the Trooper and spent the last two years trying to keep it on the road and now with 150k on it the tranny is slipping. It is a nice ride though and has all the bells and whistles, heated seats, auto folding mirrors for the car wash ect ect. But if I was going to buy one the transmission problems they are plagued with would be the deal breaker.

Not sure about the Montero's, but from 97-99 the Sports came with the Aisin-Warner 30-43le(the AW4), IMO a good trans. I swapped the fancy Invec-II trans out of my 01 Sport for the 30-43le(for NP231 adaptability) with a manual controller, love it so far.

I only have experience with my 3.0 24v sohc, but it has been a great motor for me,85k of abuse(and no2) and going strong. Recently got headers from down under, they sound great, runs like a raped ape.

Certain body panels are interchangeable and it has the same motor transmission combo. My friend hit a deer and replaced the fender and door on his Trooper with a Montero found in the junk yard...it even was the same color and body moldings. His is an older trooper though early to mid 90's and maybe newer ones are totally different (I don't know) but his year is the exact and I mean the exact same truck right down to the little wipers on the headlights the only thing different was the grill.
