OK what is that file? A Beta or a leaked release copy? Cause officially it releases on the June 17th. I'm tempted to download your link but on the other hand a sure thing is only 6 days away too hmm.

Is there a documented downgrade procedure?

Did they verify that you can switch to the "official" code easily when it is released?

It's a developer release, not technically an illegal copy. Just not released to the regular public. iPhone developers have had 3.0 for a while now.

x2 but this is the "gold release" which means the final version.. It loaded right up in i-tunes

Yes, hold off.

Unless you want the 8GB iPhone 3G, rather than the 16GB or 32GB iPhone 3GS

Because once you make the decision, and sign the contract, apparently they won't let you upgrade for at least 18 months (unless you pay a $200 rape fee).

but the 8GB iPhone 3G reduced to $99, available now, is not a bad option. Or you could wait until June 19th for the other two.

iPhone OS 3.0 comes out for existing units on June 17.

here is what the dev-team said, sounds like they already have a QuickPwn setup for it that will be released the same day 3.0 comes out

Talking about the new i-tunes and 3.0:
This update is one of those that incidentally breaks QuickPwn and PwnageTool. It doesnít seem like an anti-jailbreak. But nonetheless, it will break your ability to re-run QuickPwn or PwnageToolís dfu-entry.

Because this update isnít a deliberate anti-jailbreak measure, itís easily fixed in our tools. But we really donít want to update our tools until 3.0 is out, so please donít update to 8.2 if you think youíll need to rejailbreak your device. :)

if its slow, something you did caused it to do that. I know I've had a couple apps that were memory hogs.

I think my iPhone 3G is slow, even without being jailbroken. Or when jailbroken and only 1 or 2 apps installed (lockscreen calendar is a favorite).

If you call an essentially failed WiMax setup "4G", then yes. They're only slightly further ahead in their rollout than anyone else is in their LTE rollouts.

And by speed, I meant CPU, not Internet.

That'a not completely true. If your number is the main line (I have a family plan account) you can upgrade in 12 months... woohoo 6 months early! At least that's how mine works so I get to upgrade in October, a year after I bought my 3g... I have heard rumors that they were going to let people upgrade early if the sales aren't what they expect... but that just rumors.

I don't see any advantage in upgrading, especially if there is a higher monthly fee like how they up'd from the 2g to the 3g..
