I'll try it but I cleand both hafes of the intake at 173,000 when the new long block went in

Thats all well & good, but the top engine cleaner gets the carbon out of the rings and valves and get the tops of the pistons clean. you say its missing but I wonder if its built up carbon causing it?

I was the one who cleaned the old parts that went on the new engine (crate engine). At 173,000 miles, the engine was clean as new. Both the old and new engines act the same.

ok, thats good to know. so what got transfered to the new engine that would make a miss? old plug wires, bad cap? is that engine old enough to have adjustable rockers? if so are they too tight?

Nope, rockers arent adjustable. It has to be a sensor or injector. All of which were transfered. The new engine came as a complete engine minus the intake manifold, timing chain cover, and oil pan. Everything else electronics wise was transfered except plugs, wires, and the cap.


*note*

The engine was not changed because of this problem. It was swapped due to a catastrophic valvetrain failure.
