I would check the stringers in the transom. When My dad sold his '67, the transom around the out drive was squishy.

It was a great lake boat though. Real deep vee, reliable motor, and quite stable. We had alot of fun on that boat.

the six runs great. I had a couple buddies over and they said it started better than a lot of boats. A few cranks and VROOM. PLus, I personally like the wood on the bow. So far the majority of votes say to fix it.
