Thanks! Started shooting professionally right around the new year. I never did custom painting, but I did do (and still do) vinyl graphics and web design/graphics design. I am using a Canon Rebel XTi. It isn't the most expensive camera out there but I really liked it so I got one. I have a TON of pics that are client pics so I can't post them. It sucks because some of my best work I can't show, lol.

I've been working on getting into automotive stuff as well, shooting cars and such.

You need your clients to sign releases...

The picture with the asian chick and the sword is badass, as is the hummingbird and snow pic.

Thanks! Ya, I have a ton of the asian girl. She was really cool to work with. The humming bird I took last weekend up in the UP. I got a bunch of them but the lighting always sucked when I was shooting and I didn't have anything with me to light it better. Maybe next time. The snow, I just shot one day when I was out front. Trying to capture that sparkly look on the snow.

In what capacity do you pro work? Are you contracted by a corporation or something? The reason I ask is that it seems backwards that you dont have the rights to your work. My fiance controls her work and anything she shoots is her property. She can post, sell, yada yada, any image she takes, its her property. Her clients dont have any rights to the images. Even after they purchase them from her, they still dont own the rights, only the physical picture. (ie, they can't copy it at target without her release) I would imagine its all in the contract they sign that gives her these rights, but your situation just doesn't seem right to me.

Your right, most companies are like that. I work completely for myself. There is a reason why I do it this way though. Due to the nature of the photos I take, most of my clients don't want me posting naked pictures of them everywhere. By giving them full release of rights, I can't post them or use them without permission, which sucks for my portfolio but kicks ass for a selling point. I wont even show the photos to my friends. My clients like that I am one of the only boudoir photographers that do that.

I do sometimes though, shoot TFP or pay models for the photos I need and a lot of times, if I just ask, my clients will let me use photos for my portfolio, website, etc. It just sucks when you get a really nice one and they don't want you to use it.

Got ya, she works for herself as well. I sort of figured it out after I posted that and then I went to the links in the original post.

Ya...my other work I keep the rights to, but for that, it provides a lot more comfort.
