Default SOLD-'86 Chris Craft Scorpion 178 *$3500*-SOLD

SOLD!!!!Im listing my boat up for sale to raise funds toward a house and because I have way too many hobbies. This is my '86 Chris Craft 178 Scorpion. Its a bowrider that will seat 7. It cruises at 25-30 and runs 38mph per my GPS at WOT and 4500rpm with the 14x19 prop that is in perfect shape. I also have 2 spare props that can be fixed. It has the mercruiser 3.0L 140hp motor and Aplha 1 outdrive. Trust me, this is the setup you want, its a great combo that is still commonly used today. They are very user friendly and easy to work on. My dad was a mercruiser mechanic and highly recommends that setup. Don't get stuck with the problematic 4.3 V6, the 3.0 is only about 40hp less, way more reliable and better on fuel. My dad and I went thru this thing completely when I bought it about 2 years ago. We rebuilt the lower on the outdrive to replace the shift spool, replaced all the boots, shift cable, trim limit sensor, gimbal bearing, and Im sure there is more that Im forgetting about. The motor was checked for alignment, which was actually good and is sitting perfectly. The trim cylinders work perfectly. I just uncovered it and filled everything back up so its ready to hit the water again. The U joints are in good shape, but should be replaced in the next year or to just to keep it up. I replaced the carb, intake/exhaust manifold and exhaust elbow and exhaust boots and butterfly valve with new parts 2 years ago. When I got it, it had been outside uncovered for a few years, so I replaced every cushion and panel with brand new wood, foam and marine vinyl over the last winter. I have a ton of pictures of me re-doing the interoir, just ask if you want more pictures or check out my photobucket, pics of it start on the bottom of page 10 and got back to 13 or 14 http://s57.photobucket.com/albums/g2...dak/?start=180 . I even got the 2 captains chairs embroidered with the Chris Craft logo. It has a nice large engine cover that the girls love to lay out on. A bench seat in front of that with room for 3 and storage below that for the safety equipment. Then the 2 captains chairs and room for 2 more in the bow. All safety equipment needed is included with 5 life vests and 2 anchors. 1 is a smaller one with 6 feet of heavy 3/8 galvanized chain and 60ft of rope for normal use. The other big heavy one with no chain and 60ft of rope, that one is for those situations when you really dont want to go anywhere. The boat measures out to about 18ft from bow to transom, about 19ft from bow to the end of the molded fiberglass swim platform. I have reciepts from the previous owner for getting the head rebuilt just before I bought it. I added a 55lb Navagator 24volt engine mounted trolling motor last year that works great ($500 too), it pushes the boat around great at about 2mph, I use it when coming in to the dock so I make no wake at all. It also comes with a Tournament fish/depth/temp finder, a Garmin GPS76 marine unit and a Uniden Solara VHF radio. The gas tank is about 30 gallons or so, I forget the exact number, but its more than enough. It comes on a roller trailer built by the Long company. Nothing fancy, its a galvanized steel single axle unit. It has a 2 speed manual winch with 2 inch strap and new LED lights and bias ply trailer tires last year. The boat weighs about 1500lbs and the trailer is another 500, so just about anything can tow this. Im sure there is more that I am forgetting, but just ask if you have any questions. This is a great boat, Im not trying to unload a piece of junk. If seriously interested, just stop by and check it out. Im willing to take people for test rides, we will just have to work around my schedule. I work nights on friday-monday, thats the life of a paramedic. Ill be sad to see it go, so it has to go to a good home. I appologize for the bad cell phone picture, I cannot find my camera rite now. You can contact me by email or call/text me at (586)863-7303. Thanks for looking, you will not be disappointed with this boat. Its in St Clair Shores, Mi Price is $5000 obo-Steve
