Default Bought myself a 93 Suburban

Been a long time since I posted, seems like a convenient time.

Picked myself up a 93 K1500 Suburban 5.7L, something I plan to drive and do a bit of work on.

It already has a long list of new parts - Radiator, starter, alternator, steering gear box and a few other odds and ends. Trans was rebuilt recently and beefed up for towing. Chassis has about 174,xxx miles on it.

I plan on starting with a little bit larger tire size before I do much lifting. I've never liked the appearance of body lifts much, but I'd like to hear from someone with a Chevy truck to see how well it actually works.

Later plans would be either a rebuilt engine or re-doing the one in it, just for the sake of a bit of extra power.

I'm going to drive it as-is for a bit and see if I like it, I might wind up wanting to trade it for a smaller 4x4. We'll see.

The body lift I did on my old chev (93 ext 4x4) only cost me 100 and that's the reason I went that rout

Rode better with stiffer new poly body mounts all around good body life (zone)

Would I do it again? For a 100$ yes
If I had the 1100-1600 to blow on a suspension lift yes I would do that over a body lift.

But if your only doing it for looks body lift is fine if u can deal with looking at your
Chevys frame

I had planned on using it on some two-tracks, and light off roading. I don't really get into mud pits, and not crazy enough to get into any places where tires would be coming off of the ground. That's what my Cherokee is for.

I dislike seeing the frame, but for the cost of a body lift I think I'll just deal with it.

Spent a lot of time getting this truck running right again, wound up having to put a lot of new parts on it. List so far is:

New piston, new oil pan, oil lines, filter mount, throttle body, and EVERY engine gasket except the rear main.

On top of that, I still need to do brakes. This thing spent some time sitting in grass, so I have to re-do every piece of metal line underneath. Rubber hoses look pretty shot too.. So, it's going to wind up with nearly the entire braking system replaced.

After all of that.. I'll have to go find some tires too.
