1941 MB Slatty/ Project Slat Nasty
Well on an impulse Craigslist buy I got myself a 1946 CJ2A. It came sans motor, but form the pictures looked relatively solid so I figured what the heck it's only $250. I learned something, you get what you pay for.
Yeah doesn't look to bad but from about the middle of the cowl back the entire body is made from torch cut (and not cleaned up) 1/8" plate. I should be able to run this thing through a brick wall backwards when it's done. The future interior... under all the surface rust. And yes I know my colomn and steering wheel are fawked ![]() And a better shot of the steering colomn. That's it for pics at the moment cause my camera took a dump. THE PLANS Remove the tub from the frame. Fix the one frame crack. Add stock rear YJ leaves all around. Waggy 44's (still need'em). Keeping stock axles for now. T90/Dana 18 combo (cause I already have them) Probably a Buick 225 for motorvation (Because I already have the stuff, just need a motor )Plan is currently SOA for the leaves. Now SUA. 36x12.50 15 SX's (need these too) Now 33x12.50's Mud terrain but not sure which ones yet Put the body back on and bedline the underneath and inside. Need new fenders and grill, probably hood too .got a grill coming, gonna make due with what I have nowFab up a cage and some bumpers Rustoleum anything I didn't bedline and call the thing done. It all sounds so easy but I am on a very limited budget and that is why this is going to be called Forever. I've wanted a Flattie forever, I want to keep this forever, and it will probably take me forever to even get this thing going let alone finish it. Realized that Forever is a gay name so now it's called Flat Nasty! I welcome any and all input, this will be my first ground up build so I'll take any advice or help that comes my way. Again this is gonna be slow so hang with me if things don't get done as fast as some of you guys are capable of.

I've paid more for worse....and I've driven home better (and worse) for less.
Buick V6 or 4.3L + low-gear 4-speed of you choice + Dana 18 + Quadra-track Waggy axles = wheelin good in the neighborhood.

Here's some more pics
Only rust through on the plate part of the body is right above the nicestep bar there. not sure what the hole through the tub and inner fender were for. Firewall already cut for a small block. there is more crap welded to this frame than I can count. the better of the two fenders my custom cut military grill ![]() My salvageable windshield frame and the 70 lb tailgate... they decided to make that out of 3/16 instead of only 1/8"

Score it's already got a Buick pattern bellhousing.
The more I look at it, I think I've seen this Jeep before, the "bodywork" seems familiar, I think I passed it up for $350 or so a few years ago in a more complete condition.....but I could be wrong, I've probably looked at 2.5 million Jeeps in the last 5 years.

Sweeet didn't even know what I had. Sent a PM to J Truck Rick to see about that 225, guess I know what motor I'll be running now. Thanks guys. Hopefully the project can get moving pretty soon.

I think that I am changing the plans on the springs, I want to stretch the wheelbase out a bit. I'm thinking XJ or Durango springs still SOA. Any thoughts? Should I do this on the back only, or would these have a good enough spring rate for the front too?

Yeah, Jeepaholic, that would be cool if I could check them out. Do you think that I would need to comp cut if i went with either spring? I want to try to avoid that if possible. I measured and I think I can go back about 4-5 inches without having to go full comp, just a little off the back. I have a wedding to attend this weekend, but hopefully I'll be down the following weekend.

Changing plans again...probably.
So funds are getting tighter by the day and I still haven't gotten anything for this thing (and no i haven't forgotten about you Jeepaholic or OlllllllO)
. I think the new plan is to just go through the axles that I already have, keep it spring under, and shoot for some 33's. I can always do it the way that I want later. Plans still call for a 225 Buick 6, some body work, and a rattle can paint job. I hope to have the motor soon, and hopefully I can get the grill from Jeepaholic soon too. My dad was diagnosed with cancer shortly after I got the Jeep so it has been put on the back burner. Hopefully this winter I can hit it full force and be ready to wheel next summer.

No work has been done but I do have something exciting to report...
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I have a motor, picked it up from 0lllllll0 on July 5th. Not sure what it is out of but it turns over easily so I'm hoping that an overhaul will get it going. It does have a custom "distributorless" ignition system at the moment though. Also I got my first beefy part... It's a RuffStuff diff cover for the Dana 44 that will eventually go under the Jeep (thanks again two_much_talk). Need to get one first though .Hopefully the project will get rolling here soon.
