I agree greasemonkey, I like the first one better also. I think the white on it makes it really stand out, just like "the other site" always stands out

I think everyone else is giving a great effort and stuff looks nice.

What you need to think about in a logo is usability. Not only is Jay's simple... but the drivetrain part can easily be stripped out and put on hats, polo's, etc...

It would be killer to get a brand image out there and have that shape be recognizable alone

I did not say you "copied it". I am just showing that another board is using that particular look for there logo. If you want it to be confusing for ppl to figure out who is who, that is fine.
