She's a whore. Could have waited to close until after the holiday weekend. Two listed are very nice places to camp and fish.

A lot of those are nice places...

Why close them? Why not just make them rustic/un-manned?

Aren't most those already rustic/unmanned, how much money could they be saving not having to have a ranger drive thru once a week?

Two years ago they shut a lot more down - it was estimated to save $75k total. Not sure how that figure is come up with, but I can tell you one town up north lost several hundred of our dollars because we didn't stay locally and patronize the businesses.

All that's left of these places are memories of all the great fishing when I was a kid.

I remember when it used to be just $3-$5 a night. Then it went up to $7. Now i think it's around $11-12 a night.

I overheard someone saying that garbage disposal and the new wheelchair heat resistant fire rings was the highest cost.

As for garbage, burn it in a hot fire, while bagging metal and glassware. HOw simple is that?!?!? OMFG

And for cement fire rings..

Yeah, it's absolute BS. I've been rustic camping at headquarters since the first year dating my now wife. I hate politics. apparently everyone wants to camp in a concrete field with pull through sites and full hook-up. Yeah, that will teach the kids about the wilderness. Nice...
