Default Tow hooks

What are you guys running? Moppar wants $157 for a set at a dealer, I'm curious if anyone did a backyard fab setup yet considering the only kit is made by mopar....
BTW 95 Ram 1500

I just have Tractor supply co. ones on my dakota. Don't know if a 10,000lb hook would be strong enough for your ram tho. About $20 for 2

I had hooks bolted on, but took them off when I had to replace the bumper, just went in a good place, and there really isn't a good place on the damn thing to mount them where they hang appropriately and wont pull the bumper up into the grill when jerked on...

Wish I knew what year vehicle we were talking about here since I own a 2nd-gen 4wd Ram, installed an aftermarket bumper, and kept the stock parts.

edited first post... but, for you its a 95 Ram 1500...

I looked at the after market bumpers, and I wish I had that budget, how much was yours? I would love one like that.

I don't remember know how much it was exactly, as it was lumped into a bigger bill.

I didn't notice the 1st post edit due to you being on my Ignore List.

I'll look on the shelf and see if I still have the factory tow hooks, etc from my 98.

your bumper was around $900 when I was looking at them last. Hooks would be sweet, do you still have the braces on your truck though? that s what I really need, the hook itself is pretty well the same as whats on a Chevy.

The bumper does not use the braces. They are still on the shelf - just visually confirmed. Have to poke around and see if I still have the OEM hooks. They're probably just buried on the rack.

I was thinking the same thing, I'm pretty sure if I can get the mounts I can find hooks, Chrysler just didn't give anyone a good flat place below the bumper to place them.

IIRC, the OEM hooks are of the "break-away" variety. They are meant to bend open once you pull on them hard enough so that you don't damage the vehicle they are connected to. The S-series hook may look the same, but they may not be rated the same as the hooks from a fullsize. Check the part numbers before you go and do something like that.

gotcha, if I had to find something else that would work I was going to make sure its rated for what I need. but first I need a place to mount something.

I checked with a few people and they said the kind of labor involved for what I want it would run around $800, frankly I'm not really looking to spend that much on this truck when I want to by a DD/Tow rig and swap this drive train into a narrow body truck like an older Dakota so my plan for the time being is to DD this, and wheel it on the weekend.
