Default Project: YJ Myth

This is my 1990 YJ that I have done a complete frame off. It started with a massive rust hole in the frame and I just kept going lol.

Here is what I put in it so far:
1990 Camaro 305ci engine 45k Miles
Rebuilt Holley carb
SOA
Rebuilt 700r4 out of a full size chevy pickup
NP 241C Transfer case out of a full size chevy pickup
D44 (Rebuilt) with flat top knuckles and high steer
8.8 (Rebuilt) 31 Spline 4:11 Explorer rear axle
Poly gas tank and all new high pressure lines
Summit Aluminium Radiator
Durabacked floor and underside of body

I bet someone is going to ask, why the frick would I put a 305 in it!? Simple answer: gas mileage. I'm building this as a daily driver and a trail rig, trying to get a good blend of both. Thats also why I used the 700r4, cuz it has over drive =)

Oh my it's my rear (8.8 not in at this point)

Here is that lovely poly tank I got for 75 bucks, god I love craigslist lol

I was testing the fit of the front clip, and checking tire clearence... I need bigger tires lol

I decided to use this old bump to add more pics =)

I took this pic after I installed my Summit Aluminium Radiator, it has carboard on it.

Because it will be a daily driver, I decided to make a set of track bar discos... they turned out awesome, just spin a bolt, pull a pin and the track bar breaks into 2 seperate pieces =).

Well for a host reason's. Mostly because a 305 with 45k miles on it fell into my lap. Complete from malifold to oil pan. But I have always liked the idea because there good on gas, and back then gas was 4+ buck a gallon. I did however remove all of the nasty emissions stuff off it. On the trail it won't have gobs of power but it will take me a really long way lol.

if you look at a camaro with a 305 vs a camaro with a 350, they both get exactly 17 mpg from the factory.

What front axle are you gonna use? I think you should convert it to TTB from the explorer you got the rear axle out of that sure would make it one of a Kind.

For now I am going to run the d30 on the front because I'm running out of cash and I still need a SYE and a rear drive shaft, plus an interior lol

I only bought the 8.8 from a friend, he did'nt have the entire explorer

Why lift it if you want good gas mileage? They suck for mileage stock then you put a V8 in it and lift it?

stop hatin' CC The real reason he is using a 305 is that he wants to use 100% throttle instead of 15% like yourself

Well this choice was mostly because I used the transfer case/ trans and the factory adapter for a full size chevy pickup. So it was cheap this way and all the shafts worked. No aftermarket adapters or shafts needed =)
and to save gas, it has overdrive after all.
