Default New Member, I need some help

I was referred to this site by a couple of different people who said I would find good advice here. I broke the cam in my '92 YJ Sahara and am finally getting it back together.

Crane cam, Mopar Perf oil pump, timing chain/gear upgrade are just a few of the goodies I've got going back in, but before I can enjoy some new found HP I've got to get my head taken care of. The motor has about 120K and ran great before a Corvette tempted me into a race.

Head looks great, no deposits on valves, no broken springs. I would at the very least like to find a shop to tank/blast/measure my stuff, maybe install new guides.

But where do I go? I've worked on cars my whole life but never had to find a shop (I've always 'known' where to go, or had a network of friends to ask). I'm in the Clarkston area but travel most of Oakland Co.

On other forum I frequent posting pics is required of all newbies, so here ya go:

Hey, I recognize that dock in the background but the pic's outdated.

Hi Jeremy from the guy across the lake.

why not just send the head out to be redone and install it with your other parts by yourself?

Thanks for your responses!

Jim, you know I've been into Jeeps for a while, but had never seen this forum. Just a couple of weeks ago I stopped by a house with a pile of YJ in the front yard to see if there was anything I could use. After a few minutes of talking it turned out to be the guy from whom I bought a Chevy 2500HD from. Further BSing revealed that the former owner of his current project is whiterhino's son in law. He too referred me to this forum. Small world.

To the task at hand-
I know I can buy , today, a reconned head, but that isn't what I want. I want to have my head cleaned, inspected and refurbished as needed. This will probably cost about the same as a reconned head off the shelf but satisfy my needs better (please, no psycho-analytical advice needed). I need a shop where I can talk to the guy who will be working on my part. I have had plenty of custom fab stuff done by great people at fair prices, and have dealt with several specialty machine shops because of my other automotive addictions, but am at a loss as to where to go for this.

PS: Jim, I would have posted a more recent shot but I didn't want advice about what junkyard to call to get my rust pile hauled away...
