Default Finally.. the truth about global warming is getting publicity

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,517035,00.html

Quote:
Ice is expanding in much of Antarctica, contrary to the widespread public belief that global warming is melting the continental ice cap.
Cliff notes:

Antarctic ice growing, not shrinking. The western side is melting a little bit but the eastern side is growing. Sure sounds like the Earth is still regulating itself as it did for billions of years before we started burning coal and oil.

Amazing...

All we can hope is that Al Gore will get the new Chevy Volt (which BTW they are only making 10,000 of the first year) and grab the main terminals while standing barefoot in a puddle, giving him a 53,ooo watt shock.

wouldn't hitting him with a tazer be easier...after all you get 50,000 volts from 4aa batteries

Sorry, that's suposed to be watts. I don't know the Voltage and amperage, but I'm guessing it's enough to mess you up.

BTW Michiganders,

Quote:
The battery needs a minimum temperature of between 32F to 50F (0C to 10C) to be used and when the Volt is plugged in the battery will be kept warm enough so that it can be used immediately when the Volt is unplugged.[63] If the Volt is kept unplugged and the temperature of the battery is below the minimum temperature the gasoline engine will run until the battery warms up.[63] This temperature regulation is done since electro-chemical batteries have degraded performance when they are very cold

Exactly. Pair that with a $40,000+ price tag = FAIL GM may argue two things though; People will still buy them because of the fuel savings and peopel will buy them for the environmental impact, or lack there of.

Global warming has publicly been dismised as a farse.
If you were to buy this car for $40k and it used ZERO GAS instead of buying a comparable car that got 30mpg for $25k, you would be saving $2 every 30 miles. This means that you would have to drive 225,000 miles to break even.

Does that account for the hit your electric bill would take for having to charge your car everyday?

A Prius doen't make sense financially either but I see a lot of hippies driving them around. It probably makes them feel good.

Yep, amazing. When an article agrees with what you believe you declare in "The Truth".

That works both ways, only this one hasn't been picked up by the media and shoved in our faces every chance they get.

That's not a fail on GM, that's a fail on the battery technology.

It is far cheaper to get 40 miles out of that car by charging the batteries through a wall outlet then buying gas.
