I would look at the value once you leave dealer, you can buy a used tricked out one for 3500.00-5000.00
It is always nice to have new but you can't always sell for what you owe!

Why would you finance a quad?

i had a 05 450r and a 07 450er and i loved them both but the 05 was kick start and the electric start on my 07 and the starter was real touchy since it was new,the o5 was my favorite one.

sounds like a great reason to buy a quad then

Blow it up, rebuild, continue riding. If you sell your current, I may be intrested w/ the blown motor, for the right price.

What do you have currently? To be honest, the TRX450R doesn't do much for me. The YFZ450 is a much better machine IMO
I wouldn't hesitate buying a used quad and paying cash. Thats what I did, I picked up an 03' YFZ mostly stock for $2800 couple years back, its been a great machine

I have a 00' honda 400EX

I decided im going to rebuild.. there's quite a few nice bottom ends on ebay so im going to pick one up since my case is full of rewelds.. then build onto that.. new 440 jug Stage 2 Hotcam carb jetting.. possibly a HMF pipe new CDI box and coil..

and within the next day or two i'm stripping it down to a bare frame sand blast the rusty areas then scuff the rest and shoot it all Primer black.. in multiple coats.. then I'm ordering a set of Maier BLACK plastics for it.. re-painting the wheels black ( haven't decided gloss or Flat) i would love to powder coat all this stuff but i still have almost a full quart of black primer left from the s10 paint job.. and powder coat just isn't in the budget..

Stay away from the 440 kits, you will just be revisiting bottom end issues. If you do go with a 440, make sure you get an aftermarket rod and the crank trued & welded.

A much better alternative would be a 416, Tom Carlson of TC Racing did one for a buddy of mine and back in the day (before YFZs and 450Rs) it would beat piped 250Rs & banshees.

Another good idea is to get rid of the stock 400 carb, I'd go with an FCR (stock on YFZs, up until 08 or 09 I believe)
These are just suggestions, do what you want with them.
PM me for a special discount on HMF, I have a hookup there
