Question * Sold * 78-79 Ford Dana 60 front

I was woundering if anyone wanted a good 4.10, open diff axle ?

It has no breaks ......I'll be honest , I paid $500 for it, and took 3 hrs of my time to get it plus fuel....

( I was going to use it as a builder axle, and re-do everything, but I would prefer to just Trade it off for a 92-ish kingpin 60 with 4.10's )

$550 or trades welcome

I'll trade for an 88-94 ish kingpin or balljoint ford F350 front dana 60, if it is complete and ready to run...with 4.10's at least.

Not to be a Debbie-downer but the rust on the cover mounting surface looks like the cover's been off for longer than just an inspection and tear down.

Gasket surface will clean up easy, no water damage of any kind, no scale or pitting, gears, bearsings and carrier are clean

Why would you bother with that on something like an axle housing that will be perpetually pelted with gravel and road debris, causing the paint to chip off? I would think that to be a deterrent to buying it.

I have a connection at the coaters, and it's a great way to have it baked and blasted too ! Beside's I will be using an epoxy powdercating, very tough,

If someone doenst like it, they can always sray paint over the chip's when and if they develope....

Yeah, that was my point - powercoat looks like ass when touched up and its not a matter of "when & if", regardless of what process you use when its an item like an axle housing.

I think you'll be shooting yourself in the foot if you do this. If you really want to sell it and are not doing it for yourself, blast it, take pictures of it clean, and then spray it black to keep it from re-rusting. That's how potential sellers will want it - so they can do it how they want to.

Good luck.

I thank you for the opinion....

I have had this listed for a few weeks now, for what i feel is a fair price for this axle...

Like I stated up top, I did buy this axle with the intentions to go thought it as a builder axle.....

I was trying to see if any GL members needed or wanted it.....I do not "need" to sell , so I am going to follow up with my originall mall cruiser build.

Unless someone buys this for $550 , right away
