What will you say when they come after you for something you DO like?

We've all lost some liberty today, even if you aren't a smoker, the precident has been set.....

Social control through taxation = social control at the point of a gun = tyranny.

Some people will never get it though...

OK- my rant...... Both Obama and Granholm are wanting to hike the taxes on tabacco after they are already making more on the taxes end of it than the tabacco companies see in gross sales profits.
Now they are hiking it up even further trying to dig out of a massive debt. All of my friends that currently smoke including myself will be quitting shortly because of this.
They were getting $xxxx before, but I would imagine that they will be getting even less than they were before 50% of the current smokers quit because of their tax hike.

Isn't kind of like shooting yourself in the foot???? They should have left things alone. I doubt that they will dig up the kind of money they want- well they will probably have less than they did before the hike after a couple months worth of Ciallis perscritpions get written.

OK I'm done for now.....

That will work, because high cost of street drugs (because of their illegality), got people to stop taking them.

I know, this nation has been a tyrannical fascist regime ever since they outlawed other drugs like heroin, marijuana, cocaine, etc.

I don't believe I've hear that term before, but I like it

I try not to claim to be one or the other, just let me wheel and party a little and I'll be happy to leave the world alone. This hike seriously is infringing on my likes and tastes, so I'm just helping the curve where I can to add to the slap in the face to them all.

I see, the only way to know about something is through direct experience.

Opponents of this tax increase must also be against the idea of decriminalizing marijuana and taxing the shit out if it?

I also support a yearly tax on those who do not have a college education. this tax would also compound yearly.

I think people who are unhealthy should be paying a higher cost towards health insurance. I am still overweight and I have been both morbidly and regularly obese. I should pay higher insurance rates for being obese or overweight because I am a self inflicted burden on the health care industry. So my opinion is if smokers are more likely to be low income and the low income people need this universal health care then they should pay higher taxes to make themselves at a higher risk for needing health care services aka smoking. Free health care isnt a right to begin with so being able to make yourself as sick as you want and use health care(free or not) is also not a right.

perhaps. however I am sure it is a mute point since the majority of the low income getting free healthcare will be black. or at least not white.

Hmm...it's futile to explain to you the cost-benefit analysis of this, so I'm not even going to start.
