Default Obama raises tax on the poor!

Just what he said he wouldn't do.

The largest increase in tobacco taxes took effect despite Obama's promise not to raise taxes of any kind on families earning under $250,000 or individuals under $200,000.

This is one tax that disproportionately affects the poor, who are more likely to smoke than the rich

dont worry they will get bridge cards to pay for food etc...

they will just go out and buy stuff with it then sell it for cash to buy smokes or even better...

they will buy pop, pour it out then take the returnables back for cash to buy smokes..

this will only effect the middle class who smoke but dont have bridge cards.

If you don't have the cash, don't smoke. I'm tired of hearing these crybaby low income smokers bitch about smokey treat prices. If they put half as much effort into gaining a marketable skill as they do finding the cash for smokes, they wouldn't have to worry about the cost.

I guess for some it's not a problem until it's your problem.

In 1938 Germany it was... "Hey I'm not a Jew, so what do I care if they make them wear those stars, it's not like it effects me right?"

Look where that got them.

What will you say when they come after you for something you DO like?

We've all lost some liberty today, even if you aren't a smoker, the precident has been set.....

Social control through taxation = social control at the point of a gun = tyranny.

Personally iwish that tobacco was illegal . Nothing worse than going out to eat and haveing to sit next to the smoking section. When that happens now i just wait for something else to become available . Or i just try to go to smoke free resturants. Everyone in my family besides my wife and I smoke. So if this helps them to quit Im all for. Treat it like the drug it is and ban it.

personally i think all fat people should have to pay extra taxes, they take up too much room and i don't like looking at them. if i go to restaurant and there are fat people there, i leave and drive around until i find one that doesn't have fat people because i lose my appetite when i see some fat lards stuffing their faces. if fat people put all the time and energy into exercise and practicing restraint that they put into shoving food down their pie-holes America might not be the butt of the worlds fat jokes.
