POR-15, supposed to flex and be tough as nails. Never used it personally but it should work for axle shafts.

I wouldnt have had them coated if I were going to paint them.

They'll be fine. I'm sure the axle shaft lengths will change long before I have to worry about any significant rust on the shafts.

So I was going to run the cam that ben has in his jeep now:

And then I decided to run the Mast Motorsports phaser cam and decided not to after clearly being tapped out of money so I was going to just run the stock LS3 cam I have. I was set on it until I saw this video of Dave Smiley's KOH rig which is the only other buggy out there running the drivetrain that I have. It's the phaser cam in an L92 with the 6L80. I hate that they posted this video up, I now have to pull $500 off my money tree and I'm not sure how to do that just yet.

They are awfully proud of their cam..... $499 plus the phaser limiter @ $75. When I called about 4 months ago I was told $500 plus shipping for all of it.

Does anyone have connections to get me some G8 trans parts? I have 2 part numbers that I need. I have them ordered but I'm not sure when they'll ever come in. [/QUOTE]

I work at a gm dealership, get me the part #'s and I will see if I can help!

24239528-PAN ASM

24236932-FILTER KIT

The application is a 2008 Pontiac G8 GT with the L76 and 6L80 They are the trans pan and filter for that application.

I have them ordered through a "connection" at a dealership right now but I'm looking at $31 and $32 for each part. GM employee pricing is 22 and 23 or something like that but the parts are in lansing.

I'm being told there is a back order on them for dealers. I'm not sure what the deal is but can you find out any more on it?

Thanks!

I dont think the cam is going to be in the cards this time around.... $600 plus tuning is more than I can swing. It'll give me something to look forward to later!

Why is the Transmission not pararell with the frame rails. Is it for better drive line angles? Headers look awesome by the way...

Ya, my frame rails arent parallel so when I made the drivetrain paralell to one it ended up crooked.

It actually makes the driveline angles worse but it's that or I raise the drivetrain over an inch. I may redo it later but for now, it's good enough. As long as the u-joints dont bind.

You can see what's going on in those pictures.
