Default Extending Driveshaft

Hey all,
just lifted my 94 Explorer did a SOA in the rear...the slip yolk is max'd out and binds at about 55mph...i have a buddy that works at a fab shop and said he can do it...we will be replacing majority of the shaft...theres the front yolk..then about a foot before the slip..we will be welding on new tube right behind the yolk and connect it to the rear yolk...hopefully Valley can balance it for me...
Any body have any suggestions or advice?....I do not have $325 to have it lengthened and balanced by a shop...

That's a bit steep. Did you actually call a shop and get a quote or are just assuming it's $325.

The last one i had a shop do was $165 and it includes rebuilding the double cardan joint, lengthining +3", and balancing.

but my guess is if they do fab work, it will probably turn out pretty good too.
