Advice on a new Digital Camera.. What should I get?

Looking to spend around $300 for a good quality digital camera.
Not to picky, just want a quality product that takes good pictures.
What do you recommend?
Thanks!

If you wait around, you can get into a lower end DSLR that you will be amazed with. I picked this up last week:

If you're looking for a great point and shoot, I would recommend the olympus 1030 (plus its completely waterproof and dust proof) or any of the canon sd600 and up. I have a canon sd700 and love it. But after shooting with the olympus, I could never go back to having a non-rugged point and shoot, especially for the trail.

The Canon SX10 IS is a good camera. Can go from wide angle to 20X optical zoom, has built in Image Stabilizer and lets you still do custom settings. I also recommend the SD cameras, I have a Canon SD1100IS great for something to throw in your pocket and take with you. Keep an eye on Amazon if you are thinking the SX10IS, I picked one up a few weeks ago on there for $320. I've seen the SD1100IS for as low as $150.

Which one is better of these two?

Olympus SP-565UZ 10.0MP Digital Camera

Canon PowerShot SX110IS 9MP Digital Camera - Black

I think you would be better off comparing the Canon SX10 IS then the SX110IS.

As for which one is better, I can't say. My personal opinion is, the picture quality seems a little better on my Canon that would be comparable to the Olympus I have.
