If I had to choose: Hossa. He gave up more money to be in Detroit, he wants to win. I sure wouldn't want to see Franzen go either.

It doesn't really matter, they're both going to stay. Detroit will not re-sign Chelios, Samuelson and will trade Hudler. They'll re-sign Hossa and Franzen and call up Leino, Helm and Erickson to fill the voids.

However, what I wish they'd do is trade Holmstrom to clear cap space, get rid of Samuelson and obviously not resign Chelios.

Franzen is like Holmstrom, but younger and with better hands. Get rid of Holmstrom while you can.

Hard to pick Hossa or franzen cause i really like franzen, but i'd take hossa.
Why Draper and Maltby? Because they are old and don't score much? Darper is the #2 face-off guy in the league, and Maltby is still one of the best penalty killers the Wings have ever had. There are plenty of scorers on the team to take up their slack in the scoring department.

Trade Fillppula, let Samuelsson, Chelios and McCarty go, Resign Hudler next year. And bring up Leino, Ericsson, Meech and Helm full time.

Hossa is by far the better player, you have to remember they are the same age too, think of the guy who has scored 30 goals a year for longer. Franzen is good, but Hossa's speed is so superior that it actually changes games.

Anyone that picks Franzen doesn't know the game that well

That is one of the dumbest comments I have ever heard. I will debate you about Hockey anytime.

I am not saying picking Hossa is right or wrong, but Franzen is established within the locker room. There is something to be said about chemistry. Franzen will hit and take a hit and go in front of the net. I take nothing away from Hossa, he is a great player. Just my opinion. Also what is being discussed by the hockeys minds of the Detroit RedWings.
I just hope Ken Holland pulls a trick and signs them both.

Franzen... and I do the game really well!

I'm not a fan of Hossa never have been, I don't think he fits the long term here. I think the better question is can he play second fiddle to Zetterberg?

This season I have heard nothing but how great of a teammate Hossa is and that everyone in the locker room loves him. Hell he even fought to protect Hudler earlier this year against Nashville.

So you will take the power forward, who have a notoriously short peak ,who can't fight and has a propensity to get injured over the established scorer, with a similarly large frame, who is willing to sacrifice to be on a winning team and has shown that he is an extremely responsible defensive player?

Hossa, 30 years old, has played 11 seasons and has scored 29+ goals in 10 of them. Career +/- of +106, 4 career fights

Franzen, 29 years old, has played 4 seasons, has 2 seasons of 27+ goals. Career +/- of 52, 2 career fights

Is it his solid defensive game, willingness to sacrifice to win or proven goal scoring that makes him not fit in?

Can he play second fiddle to Zetterberg? How is that even a question? He is a winger, Zetterberg is a center, there is no competition there and even if you have to play second fiddle to anyone it's Datsyuk. Z is a better shutdown center, but Datsyuk has the stronger all around game.

Your both wrong!

Philly proved a few years back that an army of monsters won't get you a cup. What was there 1 guy on the team under '6? (And he was probably a goalie!)

Yes, it's currently. You can debate about all-time best players if you want, but I'm talking current.

Regarding Datsyuk, I'd take him above the other two listed above. He's so close to 1st in almost every category, whereas the other two are first in their respective categories, but outside of those, they're nothing.

Plus, he trusts his eyes to Dr. Rhamani, you should too!

Oh boy can Alex score. I like him although I am still trying to figure out what the hell he was doing after he scored his 50th last week.

Here's the issue, Franzen is asking for too much money and his agents will not work with Ken Holland at all. Hossa on the other hand was quoted this weekend saying he will take even less money next year if it means he can stay a Wing. So I think they made the choice for us.

Draper and Maltby dont kill as much as they used to. Pavel and Zetterburg kill more. Even Helm was killing penalties. I like draper and maltby but their time has come to pass the torch to the new talent waiting. whats their ice time like now, 10 minutes if that?

What is franzens agent asking for? Franzen proved he can be dominant, but not for his whole career. Hossa has and will be good for a long time. Franzen still needs to prove he isnt a fluke.
I like Franzens style though, I'd hate to see him go.

I am not sure what Franzen is asking for but in an interview Ken holland told reporters that Franzen's agents are not trying to make this work and are not willing to give at all, so he is not about to bend over backwards for them.
