Interview clothing

long story short; i have an interview coming up at a dealership as a tech.
the girl friend and I disagree on what a guy should wear to an interview as a tech.
I have heard plenty of time dress fro the job you want, well tech jobs arnt pretty.
she thinks at a minimum i should have a nice button up shirt tucked and nick pants, almost like nice Sunday clothes.

Now i think more casual would be better like, at most a plain button up un-tucked with a nicer tee under.

if i was a shop owner and i had a guy come in for an interview for a tech in very nice clothes it just wouldn't seem right.

i know some of you own bussiness or shops or at least manage them so what would you expect for a tech?

thanks

I would say that due to the type of job a tie would be over the top but you have to show you care about getting the job so a nice button down with nice slacks. Don't 4get the belt either to show your attention to detail.

If I interviewed someone not dressed appropriately, they would lose the job before they sat down.

Dress for the job you want, not the job you are applying for!

I'd dress to the level of dealership, some are higher than others.
If its a direct OEM of course go full tilt. Maybe no need jacket though

Take a look through the show room & tech floor, it should give you a feeling of how they pride themselves on appearance.
