I have a 1999 Triumph Dayton 955i if you're interested. Don't know if this is your first bike or not.

I have been kicking around getting another sport bike myself, just need to pay off a few things. I had a Yamaha YZF 600R and I have ridden a Daytona 955 and that was one heck of a wicked ride!!!

I have a 04 CBR 600 F4i. It's a good, reliable bike. Biggest thing with most sport bikes is make sure you check that it hasn't been beat. Make sure it hasn't bounced down the road in a wreck.

Look at the handlebars, they should be good and straight with the front wheel, if they aren't it probably isn't a bike you want. Sometimes it's good to check the head bearings too. If there is play, it's probably been stunted a bunch.

Otherwise, the CBR is a great bike. May be a little fast for a bigginner, but if you are smarter than your wrist, you'll be fine. Keep in mind, a street bike is entirely different than a dirt bike.

Very true, Keep an eye out for idiots on the road. I had a guy pull infront of my last summer, layed the bike down to avoid hittin him. The a-hole ran, got caught and got what he deserved in court!

Damn, thats a great deal on the CBR.

I was wanting to get one this spring too. I was originally thinking a late model katana since Ive never ridden before (sleds yes, bikes no). Any opinions on that idea?

Try to keep note of if any fairings were painted when you are looking at anything used. Like look at vinyl and stickers that look like they don't carry over into other fairings, just good indication if it was laid down or not.

And look at handle bar ends and scratches like on the clutch cover and other engine covers, brake lever ends too.

Sounds like you have a good plan for a first bike anyways. Don't get something too big or crazy expensive, shit happens. Everyone's pretty much gonna go down at some point. Two weeks after I got my bike I got rear ended. Almost glad that I had that experience though.

Regular people are not going to see you as much, but policia will thoooooough.

Do the policia really care about the "strobe" brake lights? Ive seen a few bikes that have them where the brake light flashes 3-5 times when the brake is first engaged. They really catch your eye.

I know theyre illegal on cars, wasnt sure on bikes, or if its enforced.
