Default Looking for a good place to camping and wheeling

So the wife informs me that for her birthday in Sept, she wants to go camping. I was wondering if there were any good spots up north that might require a 4WD vehicle to get to. Legal spots. I live in Mt Clemens, but don't really mind driving 4 hours or so to get to some good spots.

we have always had luck camping near black lake. There is a primitive campground that is on the lake that we stay at every year, and its within walking distance to the local bar and restaurant. Ill look for more info, but we give it 5 stars.

http://www.bluffsresort.com/ <---- thats it. Trust me it isnt a resort, but its fun, and close to a ton of trails.

Thanks. I know I have some time, but being that I work in Iraq for collectively 175 days between now and sept, I would prefer to get the details now.

we have taken a trip to drummond. NOT hardkore wheeling, lots of beaches and 4 track trail rides, and i am sure you can camp up there too

Check out Clear Lake State Park. Lots of back roads around some two tracks for elk sightings or just a trail ride in the 4x4.

you can get lost in Mackinaw State Forest. And if it's raining, you might get stuck too. Took us about an hour of two tracks and logging roads to get back to our hunting camp last fall.
