Default AIG Bonus

They get 170 Billion in bailout money and then the say they are going to be giving out 160 million in bonuses

I'm confused why these exe's are getting rewarded for bad management to the point that they have to be bailed out

Maybe i dont see the logic

You'll get some excuse about keeping good people with bonuses which I believe in for the most part but not with AIG!

When they are a profitable company, I fully support bonus's. But I believe a bonus should be paid out based on a combination of profits and performance. If these companies are losing money, then everyone needs to tighten their belts.

I doubt the bonuses are for the executive team. I would assume they are for their analysts and mid level employees. Most of these people are hight sought after. It would be in fear if them moving to another company. The company I work for does the same thing (although we are still a profitablr company).

The bonuses being paid now are the result of contracts signed last year at this time. As much was we'd like to tear them up and not pay, legally they must pay if the conditions for payment in those contracts are met.

the guy in CBS said it was for the executives, but that isnt always the truth

It is just hard to understand how companies do such things

Give me that job, I don't have a clue what i would be doing and Im sure i can screw it up just as bad if not worse

I'm sure the people receiving these bonuses are extremely smart and probably work hard. I'd rather see my tax dollars going to these people then to the welfare system.

Extremely smart con artist that in a perfect world would be in prison. But that is not the world with which we live.

I would rather see my tax dollars not be used for either. But at least those on welfare are not buying yachts with my money.
