1998 4x Dodge Dakota Front End Work

It is shot in the front end. Front wheels are about to fall off. Steering is OK but 1 or 2 bad tie-ends.

I plan on rebuilding the entire front end on the truck while Im under there. Just wondering what I might bump into. I am looking for some pointers and insight from someone who has done this on same truck.

I know Im gonna have to get rivets out of top ball joints. Press in/out the bottoms. Not too sure what I am going to run into when I try to take control arm bolts out. Blue tip eraser?

My questions are:

1. Do you need a special tool to remove/install the control arm bushings?

2. Do I need a special tool to remove the inner tie-rod ends?

3. Besides:

A. Ball joints Top & bottom
B. Tie Rod ends- inner & outer
C. Control arm bushings
D. Sway bar bushings
E. Shocks

What else can I replace? I am trying to find replacement control arm bolts incase I hack them up, but cant find them on the net.

Any suggestions?

I just worked on My 97 dakota
both Inner tir rod ends
both out tie rod ends
upper and lower ball joints
It was a royal Pain with out power tools
Tips from what I learned, get a good compressor with impact wrench, order all of your parts and double check that they are the right ones needed, and a bottle of tylenol.
I had to run to the part store several times because the part were not correct.

Good luck, follow the directions and have a back up plan
