Keep it. Take the class for sure from MSF. By the way, most classes, even if they are full for registration, take walk-ins. The walk-ins take the spot of registered students who fail to show up for some reason.

Then enjoy it the way it is. Get a decent helmet and enjoy riding around getting 50+ MPG.

Have fun, but be safe.

Any recommendations on what I should do with it? different bars? saddle bags? flat black it?

anybody have any accessories laying around that they don't need anymore? let me know.

also interested in a full face helmet. any suggestions welcome. :) I'm not a biker.

I would pinstripe the flames and lose the luggage rack and paint the fenders.

I would leave it alone...leave the rack as without it you cannot carry anything...if you do anything paint it red, then stick a german cross on it...kinda like the red baron

lower it, ape hangers, new exhaust and get rid of the rack/seat and put a small single seat on it and cut the back half of the frame so its not so long on the seating area, new taillight/plate mount, ditch the turn signals, get some spoke rims and lose the front fender and make a new rear fender.

still have to get rid of my front fender and paint the tank but u get the idea.

as far as accessories go make it your own! do with it what you like!

Go to a powersports store and try on different helmets find the one that is most comfortable

Good Luck and Enjoy the bike!
x2. I like shoei helmets. Pricer than the chinese ones, but they're a lot more comfortable if you go for a long ride, and they're more than just DOT. I forgot what the more stringent helmet safety tests are called. Cycle shop will know.

The one I run is (I think it's a) rf-1000 or something, their basic full face helmet.

all red... and try to be visible. Consider mirror placement as my mom's cousin hit a tree and broke the mirror and impaled his neck on it the day after HS graduation.

If the mirrors weren't there he would have lived. I'd look for ones that go on the ends of the bars. Helps with the 'cafe racer' look if you want that.

But... if it's your first bike, you will probably down it. I have several times, such as locking the front end up on sand (bike fell just before stopping), forgetting about the kickstand, or backing and turning and hitting a hole in the pavement that jerks the wheel and sends the balance into all hell, stuff like that. Low speed stuff causes scrapes, profanity, and some bent stuff but nothing too bad.

just ride and enjoy it any money you put in that bike has no real return cash value. And if you do put things on it I suggest sattle bags so you can put them on the next bike.

add highway bars/crash bars... something to protect the bike (cosmetically and the engine) in the case if it falls over.

Just ride the mofo for the first year, then decide if you want to part with any cash on cosmetics.

It needs a milk crate on the rack.
