Project Pink Ramcharger

Okay. So I'm building a pos 89 ramcharger up for my wife. I'm a jeep guy, so I'm going to use this build thread as kind of a note taking avenue, and so you dodge peeps can reflect on my ramblings. I'll get picks up soon, but here's what I'm working with. I got it from a guy on here, my buddy picked it up for me and he was a super upstanding dude, so I hope he likes what we do with his rig.

A 1989 Dodge Ramcharger 4x4 with the 360, packing a whopping 240 some miles on here. It came with body damage to the front right quarter panel and just enough rust to be a michigan rig.

First thing I did was hack the hell out of it with the sawzall and angle grinder. We removed way too much of the fenders to just call them cut, so we comp cut the rear and front quarter panels and rolled on some flat steel. We went with a boxy look you'll see in the pics which I think is pretty sexy.

Let the bondo begin. I wish we didn't have to use so much, but with all the holes and repairs, we're looking at probably a total of four gallons. Hopefully my wife wont bump anything.

Our plan is a shackle flip in the rear using dodge or chevy hangers from the front of the rear leaf springs. Supposedly, this will give us around 4" of lift in the rear. We can already clear 35's pretty easy, so that'll be rock solid.

We have no quarter ROCKER panels left, so I replaced them with some 3x2 box steel.

That's about it for now, I'll keep you all posted and get some picks up soon.

Just picked up four rough country shocks from carparts.com for 98 bucks with free shipping, 4-5" of lift style. Hopefully that'll work with the front shackle lift and rear shackle reversal.

Lol, it probably wont get to four gallons. But after welding on the new fenders, and dealing with the dents, we had some fill work to do. We did a lot of feathering to try to semi-match the factory lines. Either way, if she bashes it into a tree, she'll be grinding and painting. Promise. ;)

Here are pics, dodgeboy. These are the boxed out corners I mentioned. This is our first real major body mod project, so we're on a learning curve, but considering minimal investment, I think we're doing good so far.

I got to thinking about the bondo chat, so we extended the 3x2 1/8th inch box steel rockers out to the fender wells. This will reduce the amount of bondo in that area. There will still be bondo, but I figure, for a mudder/trail rig for my wife, what the hell. Yeah. I figure I can run 35's easy right now. I'll lift it about four inches and go with 40's. There's a lot of bondo on the front end, much less on the back, there were some dents we had to smooth out there. Guess we'll see.
