Auburn posi units non-rebuildable?

I have a 96 tahoe with a aftermarket Auburn posi unit. The other day after checking the brakes I was torqing the lugs down still on jack stands. Normally I can do this with out the wheels spining, well now they spin..Im going to be putting in 4:10 gears soon.According to auburns website the don't sell rebuild kits? I guess what im asking is a detroit locker a better choice at this point?
