Default Anyone ridden at Blue Mountain, Ontario?

I heard its okay, is it worth the drive?

Our usual weekend trip destination is Nub Nob and Boyne Highlands (since they're right across the street its nice to be able to hit up two hills in one weekend). I like it there, but would like to venture out to some new spots.

Any other recommendations within a 6 hour drive or so (from Detroit)?

I haven't been to Blue, but I've heard it's nice.

You can get up to Searchmont in less than 6 hours from Novi, right? It's about an hour past the Soo. It is quite a bit bigger than Nubs and Boyne.

My friends and I used to go over to Blue Mountain every year for New Years. It is way, WAY better than Nubs, Boyne, or anything in Michigan. When we used to go (probably 6-7 years ago now) they were just starting to develop the place - the new owners were adding a bunch of lodging, shops, etc.

It is definitely worth the trip, but it takes forever to get there once you get into Canada b/c it is country roads most of the way and the speed limits are ridiculous. The views from the top are nice, it's right on the bay. We are all snowboarders and we loved it - not sure how good it is for skiers.

We used to go every year and go skiing up there, but I have not been in 4 years since i moved to cali. Way better than anything in MI. Someone new bought it a couple years ago, i think. Added a bunch of new chairs and stuff. Very nice, can be cold if the wind is blowing off the bay, so bring warm clothes.

blue is really nice for a 4-5hr drive it will take you to get there. IMO way better riding then what is in michigan. quite a bit more vertical also. you have to take watch a quick safety video to get into the park though.

last time i was at blue my bar tab ending up being over $200 for myself. it was a pretty fun night

Good deal, sounds like it will definitely be worth checking out before seasons end. We all snowboard, but I like to hit everything...steep runs, longer mellow trails, park jumps...it's all fun.

I know of Searchmont and heard its pretty good, but have never been there. That is on the list for a weekend trip as well since its not too far.

Never went to Blue Mountain, but made a trip up to Mt. Bohemia last weekend.

Good challenging terrain, although there wasn't any fresh snow. It was actually all iced over pretty bad but by mid-day it was pretty warm and sunny so everything softened up for some nice spring slush conditions which made it fun. I definitely want to make it back up there when they get dumped on.

They may have upgraded it in the past few years but it was developed long before that.

I agree that as far as terrain goes it's far better than anything in Michigan. The only downside I found was that if there is a Northerly wind coming off the lake it's really cold.
