Default T18 Shift Lever

Is there some way I can get that thing to come off without disassembling the tranny? I need to pull it out (again) and it's really a pain in the ass with that flag pole sticking up out of the top.

I thought I heard there was a way to do it a while back but I can't seem to find anything on it...

Not sure if it is the same as on an NP435 but on those you push down and turn a spring loaded cap that is around the lever to pull it out.

Well I tried pushing down on it, no luck. However, in the process I knocked off some of the grime around it, revealing never before seen flat spots, 4 of them, around the dome piece thingy at the base of the shifter.

Sure enough that top piece unscrewed and it all just pulls right out with a solid yank... wish I had noticed those earlier...

Thanks Bogdog!

it was so easy I'm almost kind of embarrassed...
