Default 97 f250 7.3 help

OK Guys My 97 f 250 7.3 turbo deisel Needs you help
I was driving home the other day & the + cable pulled out of terminal on #1 batt every thing shut down I reconected & it started right up I took off & now my speedo does not work the O/D switch says off & is blinking & trans shifts at all differnt times & shifts so hard feels like it's going to rip out the drive line So what do I look for?

it sounds to me like the vss is bad. or it has a trans problem. the od light blinking is showing a trans problem. but the vss will cause it to shift hard, random and the spedo wont work right. had to change a few on my bronco. id try and pull codes, also maby try and reset the computer. but it will be trans or vss
