Talking Look what followed me home from Ohio.....

...... My new tow rig. Yes it's being trailered for a reason, The extension housing is cracked from a bad u-joint. I picked it up dirt cheap . That's Red68camaro's gasser tow rig pulling my Diesel home .
specs: 2003 Silverado 2500 HD, 4x4, Duramax, Allison 5 speed, and just over 100k on the clock.

If you have the tranny out . Merchant Auto has an upgrade for the t-case. I guess there's a part in there that likes to go KABOOM and do some damage. It like a couple hundred bucks.

Yeah I know, but the real cause of the problem is a bad u-joint. The part that is broken on my truck is the extension housing between the trans and t.case. The part you speak of is to prevent pump rub in the t.case. The dealer now offers a revised extension housing with more meat on it to help also. Sun coast makes an additional brace that goes between the t.case and trans to help prevent cracking. I don't like the idea of the brace because it actually doesn't "fix" anything, just transfers the vibration else where which could cause something else to break. moral of the story, check your u-joints, and fix your vibrations!
