Default Locking/deleteing old threads

I've seen a very large kit lately with "one post wonders" bumping thread up from the dead. Is there anyway mods could possibly lock or delete old posts to slow down this process. I realize this would probably take forever but I see numerous people that dig and dig and dig untill they get years back and think it was just posted yesterday. The most recent being 2 years old. Originally posted September 5th, 2007, 10:15 PM was just bump a few minutes ago.

So is this possible? I'd be willing to donate my time if it'd help.

Just food for thought.

report those posts by clicking "!!"

That puts a notation on that users profile and the mods can see if its a problem and take action.

Thanks

Could you put an automatic lock on marketplace threads that have gone X months since posting?

I understand that some people don't bump their stuff everyday, but when something has already been stated as sold and it was still bumped up is just nonsense.

Are you seeing "Sold" stuff being bumped in the Completed Sales Forum, or in the For Sale Forums?

Some of these "SOLD" bumps are simply to make the thread visible to the Marketplace Moderator so that they will be moved to Completed Sales. That's normal.

This one comes to mind recently, but it looks like the guy just never updated his thread to show it as sold.

Actually, I've seen a few of these lately. Should I report these posts when I see them? I don't really want to report a bunch of posts and be a pain in someone's ass, especially if those aren't the types of posts I should be reporting.

" 1992 comanche 4x4 4.0 ho auto 3in lift $600"

That is still the title. If you go to advanced edit, you can add the word "SOLD" there and then they don't have to dig thru the pages to find that it is sold.

And also helps the mods move it to the completed section.

x2, you can also report your thread and it will be moved. Or report that you purchased it and it is now it your possession

It's not mine. I quoted him and put a big red SOLD and told him to put it in the title. Go look again.

I think that thread is more an issue of people being stupid than someone doing something wrong. A lot of people just plain don't know how to do an Advanced Edit or edit a thread title from the Forum Index. I used to do it for people a lot myself. Just report it and a Mod will edit/move it (eventually).

87mopar will probably still post in that thread even after it is moved to the Completed Sales Forum. (Because that Forum isn't locked.)

No, it's kind of like the link above. One guy I sent a PM about it and I was trying to be nice simply stating that old posts (2 years old) shouldn't really be bumped. Best would be to PM the owner first. Then another thread like posted above, a new member kept bumping the thread repeatidly after being clearly posted as "Sold".
