I say that because he had a functioning rig. Then he bought new seats. Then he changed the cage. Then he painted it. Then he tore it apart. He and Scooterbuilt must be meeting at Starbucks to discuss their next diversion.

Wheel it. No one cares what it looks like!

Pulled the tub to fix some broken body mounts. Then deicided to improve the ride quailty for the family....by linking the suspension.Might as well throw on some bigger tires while I was at too....You know the snowball effect......

So no work progress for the last few weeks. But while on Vacation with the family in Florida. I was able to find 4 of these within a short drive of me. So I stopped in at Hoyt 4x4 meet with the owner Tony and a deal was made. I picked up 4 of the ORI Struts 14" long to try out....

Ok I'm looking for some help/feed back on my 4 and 3 link Calculations. I'm trying to get a understanding of this stuff and have read just about everything I can find on it. Problem now is trying to filter out the bad info...lol. So I could really use some advise from anyone that has setup their own suspension and let me know if I'm in the ball park with this or not. All locations are based on what I have been able to measure as feasible mounting locations on the jeep. I have not done any mock up as of yet. So fire away with your thoughts and your suggestions....

Rear 4 Link Setup
Note upper link at frame mount is adjustable and can move 1" or 1" down from the shown current position. So Anti Squat can be changed from current position of 85% to either 67% or 102%

Front 3 Link Setup

For the rear I'd try and get the instant center out further forward, it'll add some stability. I'd say 85% AS is a good number to aim for so try and keep that while moving the IC further forward....might be tricky with those fixed frame mounts you have. Moving the UCA to the top hole will move the IC further forward but also bump up the AS to the 102% you mentioned. That's definitely a bit higher than most seem to prefer. To further complicate it, I've heard of several reliable people having issues with the axle twisting under load when the LCAs are at axle centerline so I'd move those down a bit....that'll increase AS and move the IC back even more though. It's definitely gonna be a bit of a balancing act and those frame mounts are gonna be the limiting factor.

For the front end that may be a bit too much triangulation for a setup with a panhard, it may add some bind to the system. Being a 3 link will help a lot, but it could still fight itself some since the panhard will want to move the axle in an arc and the triangulated links will want to move it vertically.

Thanks that is the feed back that is what I was looking for. I will play somemore with rear setup and see what I can do. Also good catch on the front, I had not thought about a binding issue.

Well it is all tore down and the leaf springs are gone....I have now reached the point of no return.... So the plan for the next few weeks is to try to get some things laid out and mocked up. Of course between all the holiday stuff going on.We'll have to see how much gets done...

Merry Christmas . . . I like the invisible links . . much cooler then what you'll be welding in but they don't seem very functional at this point. Maybe in the future . . ahh, the FUTURE!!

Got a few things done this weekend that at least show some progress.....Since the body mounts were starting to get soft like they all do. Plus I already had the tub flipped upside down it was the easiest time to plate them and double up the material thickness..

Also got the Blue Torch Fab Rear Truss trimmed to fit...it is made for a dana 60 and since I have a dana 70 it took a little grinding and trimming to get things to lineup where they should. But I'm happy with it, some more gussets will be added later on to it.

Slowly making some progress...got the bottom of the tub all painted up and flipped back over and set back on the frame to check for clearance. Also just finished up the the new frame body mounts. They are made by SWAG off road for a TJ, so I had to modify them some to fit. But I'm real happy with how they turned out.

Finally got started on setting up the rear suspension. Just tacking things in place to how well things work and clear everything else or don't work and clear....
