Default Challenge #9 Automotive

In light of the Auto Show, lets see your best automotive shot. Try to keep it from this past week until the challenge ends in a couple weeks. Doesn't have to be from the auto show. Maybe this will spark some people to get out and use their gear

So which one of those would you consider your best shot?

My favorite from my auto show shots this year is:

For the rest, I have two threads in the general portion of this sub-forum lol

that thing had me scratching my head.. They but welded every angle.. not a single Bend in any of the tube.. we were bottom of the SAE baja team and we had a tube bender... it just suprises me that the amount money they had into the buggy they didnt use a tube bender.. and im suprised the organization let them run that way

If you space out your pics and number them it is much easier for people to comment on them.

Since you said you are learning, I'll give you some honest blunt opinions.

1. Nice angle to shoot from, one thing that makes a lot of great pics is a different point of view than what you normally see. This does that well. One problem, you cut off the very bottom of the tire closest to the camera.

2. Once again, you cut off the very bottom of the pulley that is the subject of the picture. You should have a shallower depth of field (DOF) on a shot like that because right now there isn't anything separating the subject pulley from the rest of the photo.

3. White balance is off, contrast is too high and the reflections are killing everything. Black cars are hard to shoot and by bumping the contrast you have gotten rid of any detail. I can't see the transition from tire to wheel well to bumper, it all looks like an abyss.

4. Nice shot, nice angle, white balance is a little off.

5. White balance is off, nothing is in focus, reflections are all over the place.

6. White balance again, eye isn't drawn to anything, angle isn't all that interesting.

If you think I'm being to harsh, I don't mean to be, this is just the kind of comments I like to receive when I post. I am always trying to get better and I like to know how other people see my work.

Nice shots guys, i agree with the grand cherokee and rams head shots...The blacks are not registering correctly which is why it just all bleeds together and out of focus is well, out of focus. Keep up the good work though.

I like the taillight shot of the SS also, however i would have liked it more if the focal point was the SS badge and not the bezel itself. Me personally, my eye goes to sharp lines, and intricate parts such as the SS, and the taillight being out of focus would not bother me as much. My only other gripe is the White Balance on the Camaro shots, seems way too cool (that might have been what you were after tho?) Keep up the good work they are cool shots

I noticed the WB was set to manual, did you mean to leave it there? That may be why the images didn't turn out quite how you wanted them to.
