I really thought they were the Shit, when I saw the first one in 1972. "Sporty little thing", said I. "Sort of a baby Camaro", said my Dad. Then the first winter passed, the road salt took it's toll. And the rust is history.

About 15 years ago my dads friend had one with a 350 in it. It was one of the delivery ones, looked like a wagon, but was 2 door with no back windows. It was fast thats for sure. I should have bought it when I had the chance, the guy practically gave it away. It would have been fun for a minute while I was in high school.

Back in the day, I had the most rarest Vega evar. Factory experimental prototype 4X4 wagon. Hydraulic motors in the front hubs, driven by a hydraulic pump behind the transmission. And the aluminum block 4 popper. It drove like a motorboat through molasses. Had the big ugly early Toronado rims. Spare tire cover said "Snowbird" on it. I have some polaroids of it. GM has a couple pictures of Renegade II and I standing in front of it, after I sold it back to a couple undercover GM security investigators. Got in a bunch of trouble for having it, and the guy that I got it from got into even more.

Simmons was never able to prove any of his stories, I have witnesses. Renegade II was there when the GM people loaded it onto the trailer. They even took a picture of he and I standing by the trailer. They were driving a suburban with blacked out windows. When they left, both guys that we talked to, go into the back seat of the suburban. I always wondered how many people were in it I need to figue out my scanner, so I can post the pics. I have some old Mounds pics from that era, too.

Liar, I don't know what you are talking about. It never happened

I believe the car was a reddish color and it had tons of funky hydro pressure gauges in it. The GM guys had a sweet aluminum car trailer with a winch on it, kinda unheard of for the average non millionaire back then. They paid in consecutive # $100 bills that immediately were laundered into, um, I mean bought a nice truck cap for the dead mans F150. If I recall, about a week or two later they sent pics back of a loader putting it in a crusher and it being squished flat. Lots of neat crushed proto vehicles in the background of the pics.

Edit: I remember one of the GM guys saying "we were'nt authorized to steal it" when he explained why they paid asking price for it.

No one can make up stories that are as fkuced up as Ed's real life adventures

Ed has been telling me about it for years but he won't show me pictures of it. He's just doing it to screw with my mind. He knows I like to see that kind of weird hard to find stuff.
