I guess I'll buy end tables and the coffee table from amazon. .
My buddy makes furniture. It's really nice stuff, and he will make you anything you want, out of anything you want. I just had him make me a couple of end tables. Good prices - if you want to get in touch with him, PM me. It will be much better quality than the Art Van or IKEA shit that will fall apart in 2 years, and probably less expensive.

I must have somehow missed that Ikea is the harbor freight of furniture. My stuff has held up great so far, but I'm picky I like the real wood stuff they have. I'm planning on going back for more stuff sooner or later because I don't like the types of bedroom sets nor the prices here in Iowa.

To each his own I guess.

Based on looking it over (and buying the boy a desk) the vast majority of Ikea furniture is plastic-veneered particle board stuff extremely similar to the Sauder stuff sold at Meijer, Target, etc... More slickly marketed and with cool vaguely Scandinavian-sounding names, but Sauder particle board junk. Not bad if you're looking for cheap particle board desks, tables, shelves, etc... but not exactly equivalent to the Scandinavian modern solid hardwood furniture it's marketed to strongly resemble.

It is a marketing wonder, however - adding cachet and snob appeal to assemble it yourself particle board furniture...

CC, here is what you do take a trip to flint take 475 to hill rd and go left keep going past 23 and on the right it Skaff if you like nothing they have there go back the way you came on hill rd but turn left on fenton road. Take that 2 miles north and on the right is VCF if they have junk there head south back to Bristol rd and turn right take that to Linden road and turn right and go about 2 miles north to furniture row. Then you can see all the junk that the furniture places in flint have to offer. Actually there are a couple more places on Linden and Miller Rd if you still haven't found anything. I myself buy a $20 garage sale couch and when I get sick of it I put it out by the Fire pit until it gets to gross to sit on then burn it. That way I really get my moneys worth.
