Default Jack's on the Waterfront is closed!

The sign says closed for remodeling...Heard rumors from some of the employees that they wenen't getting paid regularly.

Also heard that the old owner, Tom Lefevre, may be taking over the business. Let's hope so, I liked this place!! We're also running out of boating destinations....

True, but I don't think the water is deep enough to get there by boat.

I was at the house of the owner of a good sized marina last week and he informed me that nobody can sell a boat right now, and a lot of his clients are using the boats they can't sell as a "weekend hotel" and just hanging out in the marina because they can't afford the gas to fill up the boats. He told me about a guy who paid $350,000 for a used boat four years ago, and he is down to $120,000 now and nobody will even look at it.

I'm guessing things like this greatly effect the business of boat related companies. I'm not sure what % of business come from boaters there though.

You are 100% right, but a lot of people have been just sitting on their boats at the marina docks for the last 2-3 years, I am sure with home foreclosures and higher unemployment it will be even worse this summer.

On the contrary Jacks will still attract a fair amount of people, at any given time there is usually only 10-20 boats rafted up on their wall, they still get or were getting a LOT of car traffic. I've never been to jacks when the back porch wasn't full and the inside wasn't at least half full or more.

x2 everytime i've been there the parking lot is full and the whole outside was full, plus it's right at a marina alot of people that just want to feel like their using their boat can go from their slip, tie up along their wall eat and tie back up, instead of people like me who have to drive mine all the way from wyandotte everytime i wanna go, hope gas dosent go up to what it did last year, i might take a few less trips their and stay up at portofino's

wow, its surprising that it closed up then. I didn't realize they had a ton of land based customers..

Maybe this is the time to buy a boat for the first time boat buyer, or maybe the bottom of the market will be this coming fall,.

They used to have a lot of land based customers..I used to go there weekly up 'till last December. My finances can't keep up with $10 jaeger bombs and $9 long islands. Since the new owners took over, they really raised the prices. Slowly, the customers started to drift away.

F*ck yeah, I never hear anyone talk about the raft. I thought I was the only one that knew about it....lol (not really)

As far as being deep enough, I don't think so, but if we get a lot more snow and spring rain, it might be.

I don't think people realize the low profit margins of a restaurant and the ever rising costs last year alone. Food, paper, insurance and minimum wage rates, yes that affects restarurants.
Even with the " it's always packed" comment doesn't mean your making money.
The National Restaurant Research shows that the average restaurant makes only 5 cents on the dollar in profit.
Tuff business, especially in a seasonal area.

if you're selling $10 jaeger bombs and $9 long islands, I'm guessing you're making some profit...
