Default OBD II data logging

I am looking for an OBD II setup on my laptop. I am looking specifially for data-logging.

Does anyone here do that sort of thing or have any experience with that? I have been researching and the cables are straight forward, but the software I know nothing about. There are a few free choices that look good, however I am looking for anyone who may have done something like this.

Are you looking for paid software or freeware? I've used http://www.obdscan.net/software.htm but only briefly, and it was in Demo mode, since my PC-DLC interface cable wouldn't work with their software.

i cant find anything right now, im at sno fari and its at home.

But i liked it for what i used it for.
with the software they had you could use it for anything you may have, they just ship you a different cable to connect to your pda or laptop.
it came with the basic obdII, and you could upgrade to manufacture specific to read more codes and more parameters.

You could log information and record when you wanted to.

I was thinking of this for my HTC mogul. I wanted software for the big trucks. Any suggestions on that?

I couldn't find much for Winmo, but there's a ton of it for palm, enough to make it worth your while to pick up an old one on eBay along with a cable.

Same here. I test the dealership service tools for Ford (IDS/ PDS). Ours is proprietary as well, so I wasn't even thinking of suggesting it.

http://www.auterraweb.com/

had it on a palm m130 till the battery died ( trying to decide if i replace the battery , or the scan tool ) .
worked pretty good . to read and clear codes , view live sensor data .

very fast compared to some factory scan tools ./ and you can download manufacturer specific codes and descriptions .

not all codes turn on the light right away . it just means that stated parameters have exceeded programmed limits , but are not critical to vehicle operation .
there are some codes that will never turn on the light ( " u " and " b " prefix codes ).

some require several drive cycles to decide to turn on the light . ( evap. emmisions for example )
unlike a misfire , which is continious monitor .
