They must have convenienlty forgot to inform you that you had to pay for said digital meter.

Maybe I missed that part. They claimed that they had estimated my usage for 5 months and that the remainder was the cost after an actual reading.

I recieved a gas bill of $485.00 for a vacant house, that I shut the gas off at the meters last year.
They said it was an estimate.

How do you go about doing this? How do you know if its an actual reading vs. an estimate? I'm fairly new to paying an energy bill.

It says right on the bill if it actual or estimated. You go to their website and sign up for online billing.

Consumers just did the same thing to me. House is vacant, highest bill in the last 4 mos was $27, all actual readings. Estimated this read and its $147. Idiots.

We have online billing only. Here's a clip:

I'm assuming the ADJ stands for Adjusted or Estimated while the rest are all actual.

Consumers is blaming their new estimating software, just call them and they'll fix it.

I don't know if it is related, but I know Consumers has been installing SAP in a lot of different areas of the company. If so, I can see why everything is screwed up.

Don't we usually get sap from trees, not the electric company?

Sheesh.
